College’s role in Disciplinary Action
Under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), certain regulatory decisions, including disciplinary orders and citations, must be made publicly available. In some circumstances, additional information may be disclosed where permitted or required by law, including where necessary to protect the public.
When publishing information, the College balances transparency with privacy and fairness to all parties involved. The College carries out its public notification responsibilities in a way that supports cultural safety, anti-discrimination, and respectful participation in regulatory processes.

Public Notification Policy
This policy describes the requirements of the College to provide clear and accessible notification to the public for certain regulatory decisions as detailed in the provisions in the Health Professions and Occupations Act.
Discipline hearings
If the investigation committee directs the registrar to request that a citation be issued, the Director of Discipline will assess the matter and determine whether to issue the citation. If a citation is issued, the Director of Discipline will appoint a discipline panel consisting of three members, including at least one licensee who is licensed to practise the same designated health profession as the respondent and one public representative.
Public notices published under the Health Professions Act
Under the Health Professions Act, CCHPBC provided notice of complaint outcomes as required by the Act. CCHPBC provided notice of outcomes that resulted in conditions or limits on a licensees practice, a suspension, or cancellation of licence, as well as matters that went to the Discipline Committee. Discipline notices or notices of complaints involving serious matters will be published here for ten years. Please use our contact form to obtain information older than ten years.
