The following policies govern the collection, use, and disclosure of information collected from members of the public through this website provided by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (the College). These policies do not apply to information collected by the College by other means.
The College’s collection, use, and disclosure of personal information is managed in accordance with the Health Professions Act (HPA) and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
What personal information is collected and how is it used?
When you visit the College website [https://cchpbc.ca/] the web server automatically collects a limited amount of information essential for the operation and security of the website. Some of this information (e.g. browser type) does not identify you, while other information, such as an IP address, may identify you. However, the College does not attempt to link IP addresses with the identity of individuals visiting its website.
There are a number of ways in which you may choose to provide the College with personal information. If you send the College an email, or fill out a feedback or request form, you may choose to include information such as your name, mailing address, email address, and other information specific to your request. Personal information is not collected by the College unless you specifically choose to send it to the College.
If you file a complaint with the College about the conduct of a registrant, the HPA requires the College to share your name and the substantive details of your complaint with the registrant who is the subject of your complaint. However, in such event, your personal contact information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with the registrant.
Any personal information the College may collect via its website is collected in compliance with section 26 of FIPPA. The College does not disclose any personally identifiable user information to other organizations or individuals, except as required by law.
Except as set out above in relation to complaints, any personal information collected may only be accessed by authorized College staff.
Reservation of rights
The College reserves the right to change this privacy policy. Any revisions will be posted at least 15 days prior to the effective date.
