Renewals
In order to practice in British Columbia, chiropractic doctors must be registered through the College. The Registration Committee receives and scrutinizes all applications for registration to ensure that applicants and registrants meet the required standards (including graduation from a recognized chiropractic educational program (link to Recognized Education Programs/Accredited Programs page) and completion of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB) exams) to practise as a chiropractor in British Columbia.
Registration Renewal Process
All chiropractors who are registered as a full registrant or a non-practising registrant of the College must complete the following no later than July 31 of each year:]
- Login to registry with your email address and password and complete the online renewal application.
- Payment of the applicable registration renewal fee online.
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the Health Professions Act or the Chiropractors Act
- Proof of standard first aid certification that meets the requirements set out by the Quality Assurance Committee (not applicable for non-practising registrants).
- Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education by March 31 of every second year (not applicable for non-practising registrants).
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance of at least $2,000,000 per claim.
- Completion of any outstanding requirements as mandated by the College including the Practice Self Review (link to practice self review page), Corporation Permit, and Criminal Record Check.
Failure to comply with the HPA and Bylaws by July 31 will result in cancellation of registration on August 1. Upon cancellation, registrants must apply for reinstatement if they wish to resume practice. The fee to apply for reinstatement is $320 in addition to annual dues.
When To Renew?
In order to maintain their status, chiropractors are required to renew their registration each year between June1 to July 31. Depending on the class of registration, chiropractors are required to complete requirements such as forms, payment of fees, a criminal record check and continuing education.

Change of Status
Any changes in your registration status must be processed through College. Below are the types of registration changes available.
Full Registrant to a Non-Practising Registrant
To change your registration status from a Full Registrant to a Non-Practising Registrant, you must complete the following process.
- Login to registry with your email address and password and complete the online application for change of status.
- Payment of the Application Fee $75 and $75 annual fee.
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the Health Professions Act or the Chiropractors Act
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance against liability arising during practice as a full registrant of at least $2,000,000 per claim for a period of 5 years following the grant of non-practising registration.
- Disclosure of the physical location of patient file.
Non-Practising Registrant to Full Registrant
To change your registration status from a Non-Practising Registrant to a Full Registrant, you must complete the following:
- Login to registry with your email address and password and complete the online application for change of status. You will be asked to consent to a criminal record check during this process.
- Proof of completion of all applicable requirements of the Quality Assurance Program including continuing education requirements and Standard First Aid with CPR-C,as though you had not ceased to be a Full Registrant;
- Payment of the $320 change in registration status fee online.
- Payment of the Full Registrant registration renewal fee, prorated on a monthly basis;
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the Health Professions Act or the Chiropractors Act; and,
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance of at least $2,000,000 per claim.
In addition, registrants must request that the following information is sent to the College:
- If you practised chiropractic or another health profession in another jurisdiction while you were a non-practising registrant in BC, a letter of standing from each jurisdiction where you have practised or currently practise chiropractic or any other health profession sent directly from each jurisdiction to the College.
- If applicable, a criminal record check from the last non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised or currently practise chiropractic or any other health profession sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
Further, if you have not been a Full Registrant for three (3) or more years prior to the date of your application, you must either:
- Successfully complete a clinical skills examination specified by the Registration Committee, or
- Demonstrate that you have practised chiropractic in a regulated jurisdiction for at least 300 hours per year, and completed a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education in each of the 3 previous years, or
- Satisfy the Registration Committee that your knowledge, skills and abilities are substantially equivalent to the above.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS
Applications will expire and are closed if they remain incomplete or the applicant is not granted status within six months of the date of initial submission. All required documentation must be received before your application will be processed.
PROCESSING TIME
Please allow for ‘a minimum of four weeks’ processing time once all documentation has been received. Application fees are non-refundable.

Reinstatement
Chiropractors who wish to reinstate their registration with the College must complete several requirements depending on several variables.
Please allow for a minimum of four weeks processing time once all documentation has been received.
Documents must be scanned and uploaded as you complete your reinstatement.
Application fees are non-refundable.
Reinstatement within two (2) months of failing to renew
If you are applying to reinstate your registration within two (2) months of a failure to renew your registration by July 31, you must complete the following:
- Login to the registrant portal with your email address and password and complete the online application for reinstatement.
- You may be asked to consent to a criminal record check from the non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised chiropractic or any other health profession, sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
- Proof of completion of all applicable requirements of the Quality Assurance Program including continuing education, as though you had not ceased to be a Full Registrant
- Holds a current Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
- Payment of the applicable registration renewal fee online.
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the HPA or the Chiropractors Act.
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance of at least $2,000,000 per claim.
Reinstatement after your registration has expired for longer than two (2) months but not following disciplinary action.
If you are applying to reinstate after your registration has been expired for longer than two (2) months, but not following disciplinary action, you must complete the following:
- Login to registry with your email address and password and complete the online application for reinstatement.
- You will be asked to consent to a Criminal Record Check from the non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised chiropractic or any other health profession, sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
- If applying for full registration, proof of completion of all applicable requirements of the Quality Assurance Program including Continuing Education requirements, as though you had not ceased to be a Full Registrant.
- Holds a current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification
- Payment of the applicable registration renewal fee online outlined in the Fees section.
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the Health Professions Act or the Chiropractors Act.
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance of at least $2,000,000 per claim
In addition, registrants must request that the following information is sent to the College:
- If you practised chiropractic or another health profession in another jurisdiction since your registration in BC lapsed, a letter of standing from each jurisdiction where you have practised or currently practise chiropractic or any other health profession sent directly from each jurisdiction to the College. The letter must specify particulars of any cancellation, suspension, limitation or conditions on the applicant’s entitlement to practise, or any investigation, review or proceeding which could lead to cancellation, suspension, limitation or conditions on the applicant’s entitlement to practise.
- If applicable, a criminal record check from the last non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised or currently practise chiropractic or any other health profession sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
Further, if you are applying for reinstatement as a Full Registrant and your registration has been expired for three (3) or more years prior to the date of your application, you must either:
- Successfully complete a clinical skills examination specified by the Registration Committee, or
- Demonstrate that you have practised chiropractic in a regulated jurisdiction for at least 300 hours per year in each of the 3 previous years, and
- Satisfy the Registration Committee that your knowledge, skills and abilities are substantially equivalent to the standards of academic or technical achievement or other qualifications established by graduating from a recognized chiropractic education program and successfully completing the specified examinations.
Reinstatement Following Disciplinary Action
When applying to reinstate your registration after it was suspended or cancelled following disciplinary action, you must complete the following:
- Login to registry with your email address and password and complete the online application for reinstatement.
- You will be asked to consent a Criminal Record Check from the non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised chiropractic or any other health profession, sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
- If applying for full registration, proof of completion of all applicable requirements of the Quality Assurance including Continuing Education requirements. as though you had not ceased to be a Full Registrant.
- Holds a Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
- Payment of the applicable registration renewal fee online.
- Payment of any other outstanding fee, debt or levy that you currently owe to the College under the Health Professions Act or the Chiropractors Act.
- Proof of professional liability protection or insurance of at least $2,000,000 per claim. Completion of any requirements as deemed necessary by the Registration Committee, in order for it to satisfy itself that your registration will not:
- pose an undue risk to public health or safety, or
- otherwise be contrary to the public interest.
In addition, registrants must request that the following information is sent to the College:
- If you practised chiropractic or another health profession in another jurisdiction after your registration in BC was canceled or suspended, a letter of standing from each jurisdiction where you have practised or currently practice chiropractic or any other health profession sent directly from each jurisdiction to the College.
- If applicable, a criminal record check from any non-Canadian jurisdiction(s) where you have practised or currently practice chiropractic or any other health profession since your registration in BC was canceled or suspended, sent from the jurisdiction directly to the College.
Further, if your registration has been expired for three (3) or more years prior to the date of your application, you must either:
- Successfully complete a clinical skills examination specified by the Registration Committee, or
- Demonstrate that you have practised chiropractic in a regulated jurisdiction for at least 300 hours per year in each of the 3 previous years, and
- Satisfy the Registration Committee that your knowledge, skills and abilities are substantially equivalent to the standards of academic or technical achievement or other qualifications established by graduating from a recognized chiropractic education program1 and successfully completing the specified examinations.
