Home 5 Announcements 5 Provincial Health Officer declares end to health-care worker vaccine mandate, launches new vaccine registry

Aug 2, 2024

On July 26, 2024, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) Dr. Bonnie Henry ended the COVID-19 public health emergency, including the vaccine mandate for health-care workers. In its place, the government introduced a new mandatory vaccine registry for health-care workers in health authority-operated and contracted health-care facilities, effective July 26, 2024.

The immune status of health-care workers working in public health-care facilities for key vaccine preventable diseases including COVID-19 will be collected through a provincial registry. More information about the vaccine registry is available in a Ministry of Health news release: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2024HLTH0115-001204

The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) is not involved in the collection of this information for the provincial registry. There is no action required for health professionals regulated by CCHPBC that do not work in the public system.

If you think this vaccine registry requirement applies to you as a health professional, please direct questions to the Ministry of Health or your health authority employer.
