History of the regulation of massage therapists in B.C.

Massage therapy has been regulated in British Columbia since 1946. It was initially regulated alongside physiotherapy under the Physiotherapists Act and became a designated health profession under the Health Professions Act in 1994, with oversight by the College of Massage Therapists of BC.

Currently, massage therapists are regulated by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC under the Health Professions and Occupations Act.
